Dental Implants in Tunisia
A dental implant replaces one or more missing teeth with an artificial titanium root topped by a crown, to restore chewing and your smile. In Tunisia, Olea Medical's priority destination, your journey is organised from start to finish, in French.
Dental implants: what is it?
A dental implant is an artificial root, usually made of titanium, inserted into the jawbone to support a crown, a bridge or a prosthesis. It replaces a missing tooth in a fixed and durable way, without touching the neighbouring teeth. Success relies on osseointegration, the phase during which the bone bonds to the implant.
Treatment often takes place in two stages (placing the implant, then the crown after healing), which may involve two stays or remote follow-up. In Tunisia, it is carried out by specialised practitioners in partner facilities.
Goals of the procedure
- Replace one or more missing teeth in a fixed way
- Restore chewing and the aesthetics of your smile
- Preserve the bone and prevent neighbouring teeth from shifting
- Achieve a natural and durable result
Who is it for? Indications
- Missing tooth or teeth, or teeth to be extracted
- Sufficient bone volume (otherwise a prior bone graft)
- Good oral and general health
- Realistic expectations, discussed in consultation
Only a healthcare professional can determine whether a procedure is suitable for your situation, following a medical assessment.
Techniques
Single implant
One implant + one crown to replace an isolated tooth.
Implant-supported bridge
Several teeth replaced by a bridge supported by implants.
All-on-4 / All-on-6
Rehabilitation of a full arch on 4 or 6 implants, handled separately.
Preparation, procedure and anaesthesia
After an assessment (examination, imaging/scan), the implant is placed under local anaesthesia. An osseointegration phase of several weeks to a few months precedes the placement of the final crown. A temporary crown may be fitted depending on the case.
Aftercare, recovery and results
The aftermath of placement is generally straightforward: slight swelling or sensitivity for a few days. The osseointegration phase is painless but requires time before the final crown. Good hygiene and regular follow-up determine durability. No result can be guaranteed in advance.
Risks and limitations
- Like any procedure, it carries risks (infection, osseointegration failure) explained in consultation.
- Insufficient bone volume may require a prior bone graft.
- Smoking and poor hygiene increase the risk of failure.
